Instructions

1. Open truck1.svg and break apart to remove all windows except the large front window. Open up windows.svg from Ryan’s Play Date SVG Kit and break apart. Take the window and add it to the ice cream truck. Do NOT ’weld’ anything. You want these to cut out. For the rounded windows, select the rounded square shape (from your shapes library in your cutting software) and size it to 1.40” w and .952”h. Put your windows in place and cut. To help you place the windows, please see the screen shot photo.
2. Now you’ll layer the windows in the correct spot on the side2.svg file. Break the file apart and remove the current windows. Layer this file over your truck1.svg file. Line it up just right as if you were adhering it onto the actual paper. (see diagram below). Once you have it lined up just right, delete the truck1.svg file. All that should be left is side2.svg and the windows. Cut, then FLIP and cut one for the other side.
3. Open truck2.svg, resize and cut. The panel that goes on the back will be cut in an orange patterned pattern. The others will be cut in light blue paper.
4. Open patterned_panels.svg, break apart and cut the rectangle with the small circles only. Be sure to size before breaking file apart. Cut with polka dot pattern paper. Adhere to the front of the van. Use 2 Epiphany Crafts size 14 round shapes for the headlights. Next cut your roof_panels.svg in wood grain pattern paper. Adhere. I only used 3 but you can use all 4 if you prefer.
5. Open the awning.svg file and uncheck ’keep proportions’. Resize to 3.00h and 4.745”w. Using a scoring board, score fold lines every 1/4”. Using a small poking tool, poke holes about 3/4” from the edge of the awning on the SECOND fold line. Cut a piece of grey jute cord about 6” long and string through the holes. The edges of the string will be ’loose’, that’s fine. Adhere the awning onto the van. Once it’s set, pull the awning out all the way so it’s ’open’. Adhere the jute cord in place (the loose edges). I used a small dab of hot glue right where the awning meets the van. Then you’ll just adhere two wooden buttons and trim excess string if needed. When you pull the awning up, to keep it in place, simply tie a knot with the loose string under the awning. It will be ’loose’ once you start pulling it up. When the awning is ’open’ just prop it up with a couple wooden tooth picks. They hold in place all by themselves.
6. Now you’ll cut the hibiscus border. Also cut a rectangle at the same width (6.652w) and 1.00” high in orange. This goes behind the border and then adhered to the van. You’ll have to trim the excess off around the front of the van.
7. Cut 4 of the rectangle2.svg buckle in dark grey sized to 2.00” w. Adhere these on top of each other and then adhere to the top of the van. This is a surf board ’rack’. Cut two surfboards and adhere to the rack. Bend up the edges slightly to resemble a real board! Add the little seagull ’standing’ on the surfboard with a small dab of hot glue.
8. Cut another surfboard for the side of the van. Wrap some grey jute cord around the board and adhere with adhesive foam for dimension.
9. Cut the tires in dark grey. Layer two for each tire. With the epoxy shapes over the tires, they are more than sturdy enough! Make five tires, adhere one to the back with adhesive foam. I used Epiphany Crafts round 25 and round 14 shape tools to create ’hub caps’ for the wheels. Adhere all wheels to your van.
10. Now you’ll finish with the front window. Open the trim.svg file and size to 10.00”w. Remove ALL trims except the one for the front window (which is the largest rounded rectangle). Cut TWO of these in light blue. Adhere one to the van. You will NOT place acetate behind this trim. For the second trim, adhere your acetate. To get the window to look popped up, just use a VERY thin line of adhesive right at the edge then hold in place until dry.

Design Tips

• Ink some of your edges for a vintage or worn look. I love using grey ink! Plus inked edges help add dimension, too.
• Make this girly! I’d LOVE to see this done up all in hot pink, orange, lime green, etc for a girl. I think it would look awesome! You can really change the feel of this just by changing the papers.
• As always, keep the patterns vs. solid cardstock well balanced. If this had too many crazy patterns it would all just kinda ’mush’ together.

1. Cut card_base.svg, face_ panel.svg and interior.svg. Adhere face_panel.svg and interior to card_base.svg.
2. Cut flowers, emboss and apply blue ink to edges. Layer together with foam dots. Thread hemp cord through buttons and hot glue to center of flowers.
3. Glue flowers in center of circle cut outs.
4. Cut butterflies. Layer pink polka dot on top of black polka dot. Apply glue in the center only so wings can be lifted up.
5. Cut tag, stamp sentiment and attach with ribbon to card.
6. Thread cord through buttons and hot glue to bottom right corner.
7. Cut and assemble gift bag. Emboss flower, ink edges and assemble with foam dots. Thread cord through button and glue to center of flower. Adhere flower to bag.

Dimensions

Anything marked with (*) – please refer to instructions before cutting. Size to specified width and height. If only width is provided, size using “keep proportions” or aspect lock.

Instructions

1. (Lampshade Instruction – Steps 1-5) Open knob.svg and resize. Break apart, put aside the octagon shape, and regroup the rest. If you rotate this piece, it WILL fit on the 12 x 12 mat.
2. Open saucer_accents.svg, and resize to 12” wide by 5” high. Break apart, and place each of these accents approximately in the middle each of the knob panels. (There’s unfortunately no easy way to do this) You should have 4 accents unused. Delete. Regroup the whole file. Put it aside.
3. Bring back the octagon shape into the mat. Open base3.svg and break apart. Delete the outside square of the bigger piece, and the other square. Regroup. Using center alignment, place both this piece and the octagon shape in the middle of the mat. Regroup.
4. Position these files on the mat, so you can cut both on one sheet of paper. (See Diagram 1) Cut. Using scissors, cut off each of the top tabs, and trim off the side and bottom tabs, so it won’t show when assembled. (Diagram 2)
5. Open saucer_accents.svg and resize this time to 16.75” wide by 6” high. You may delete 4 of the accents if you wish. Cut on vellum, and using thin double sided tape, adhere to the back of each of the lampshade panels. Do not use glue as when dry – the vellum becomes uneven. Assemble the shade.
6. Make all other items as stated on the dimensions sheet. Use Mary’s tutorial videos for help with assembly. Several things: For the jar handles, you will need to cut from pot2.svg at 6” wide. (Break apart the file, and only cut the handles for this) For the teapot lid, you do not need to attach the top decorative piece. For the 7” wide teacup, the handles should be pushed inside a bit than how it’s designed, to allow the cup to sit evenly on the saucer. (If you made the 9” wide saucer to go with it, you will know how much to push it in)
7. (Assembly) Glue the jar lid onto the jar, teapot lid onto the teapot. Starting from the jar, glue on the 7” wide saucer underneath making sure it’s centered. Using hot glue, attach a 6” wide teacup right side up, followed by 6” wide saucer. Attach the teapot followed by round saucer 6” wide. Underneath that, adhere the 7” wide teacup glued upside down. Prepare a little bag filled with beans/rice that will fit inside the bottom cup. Close off the bottom cup by adhering the last 9” wide saucer (use hot glue). Finally, attach the lampshade onto the top of the jar.
8. Embellish! I added roses, a spoon and a butterfly.

Design Tips

• What style of lamp would you like it to be? Vintage? Modern? I always have the easiest time finding a paper collection that I like and working with those patterns/colors. You may ink the edges to give it a vintage feel, or go with clean simple patterns and no embossing for a modern look.
• If you have digital patterns/colors that work with your papers, you may print them onto vellum to add more interest.
• If you don’t want to bother with creating a ‘octagon’ shaped lampshade, you may simply use the lampshade from Maison de Madeline SVG Kit.
• Don’t add too many things – I only added a butterfly, a spoon and a couple of roses. The project is elaborate and beautiful enough that you don’t want other embellishments to take away from the main piece.
• Don’t be limited to using the pieces that I used in my project. You can just make this lamp using stacked teacups, or even just a teapot. There’s also a pitcher from Home for the Holidays SVG Kit, or from Mom’s Garden Gifts SVG Kit. You can even use a bottle from the New Year’s Eve SVG Kit to create a graduation gift!
• You can put a twist to this project by making the teacups, but make larger plates. Stack them like a tiered stand to create a lovely accessory stand. (Another great idea for a Mother’s Day gift!)

I had so much fun making this, and this project is very simple to make. I hope that you will give this a try as it’ll most definitely ‘wow’ any mom on her special day! The only thing that I’d be concerned about is that you may want to keep this for yourself!
