Butterfly Bouquet and Butterfly Trio By Fleurette

Butterfly Bouquet

I love butterflies and thought wouldn’t be great to create a bouquet of all butterflies.  This piece can be used as the bride’s bouquet or as a table centerpiece.  It would also be beautiful for anyone in the wedding.  You can also create the butterflies as picks for existing flower arrangements.  So many fun possibilities!

  • White Cardstock
  • Glue
  • ½” Wired white ribbon
  • Embosser (optional) I used the Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy Folder
  • Long silver floral stem wire  (you can purchase at Michaels, in packages)
  • Wire cutter (like you would use for jewelry)
  • 1 large rubber band
  • Pencil

  1. Cut all butterflies out
  2. Emboss Medium sized butterflies
  3. Glue small plain butterflies to Medium size butterflies (only glue the body / center to keep them 3D)
  4. Glue 3 of your small and medium assembled butterflies to the Med/LG butterflies (this will give you three 3 layer butterflies)
  5. Glue XL butterflies together (centers only to keep 3D) You will end up with 3 XL 3D butterflies.
  6. Cut ¼” x ½” strips for all butterflies, using scrap white cardstock
  7. Sandwich/glue ends of wire between ¼” x ½” strips and butterflies (see photo, use your nails to squeeze paper tightly to the wire)
  8. Grasp butterflies that are glued to ends of the wires. Bend a 90% angle in the wire so the butterflies are horizontal (see photo)
  9. Arrange butterflies so they are at varying heights, while grasping them in your hand. (As you would do for a bouquet of flowers)
  10. Cut your rubber band in half, tie it mid point around all the wires.  Tie it tightly into a knot. (This will hold it all together and make it easy to wrap the ribbon around the stems)
  11. Trim the bottom wires to desired length. (You will need to cut one wire at a time if you are using jewelry wire cutters)
  12. Take one end of your ribbon (leave it on the spool) and tie it above your rubber band.
  13. Tightly wrap the ribbon around the stem reaching all the way to the bottom.
  14. Wrap it around the bottom where you cut the wire. Wrap it a few times, to ensure there are no sharp edges. Wrap it around the stem again, securing the bottom section.  Continue wrapping back up to the top where you started. Tie in a knot at top and cut.
  15. Arrange your butterflies, by gently maneuvering the wires, until you have a nice full bouquet.
  16. Cut 3 strips of ribbon 48”L. Fold in half and tie around your stem at the top.  (Repeat with the remainder of the ribbon strips)
  17. Cut 1 strip of ribbon 32”L to tie a bow at the top section.
  18. Use your pencil and wrap the ribbon around it, to form pin curls all the way down.  (Do this to all the ribbon).
  19. Cut ribbon in varying lengths.
