Supply List

You'll need a cutting machine with software such as a Cricut Explore and Cricut Design Space. For glue, we suggest Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Glue. 

Patterned Card Stock Paper

You can use any coordinating Christmas-themed papers such as baking-themed, candy-themed or traditional. Its thickness doesn't matter. This project uses up to 9-11 different patterned papers. You could use fewer if desired.

The PDF included in your download shows more details that help you choose which paper you’d like to use for the parts.

Solid Card Stock Paper

For best results, use 80# textured solid-core cardstock. Online, I recommend 12x12Cardstock.shop (use code SVGCUTS for 10% off). In person, shop JoAnn or Hobby Lobby. Michaels carries a smooth finish 80# cardstock that can work too.

Since my patterned paper's "main" solid colors are red, brown and beige, those are the solid colors that I used:

one 12x12" bright red such as All-American Red
two 12x12" muted red such as Brick
five 12x12" dark brown such as Portabella
two 12x11" beige such as Winter Wheat

If your patterned paper features different "main" colors, choose those instead. For example, if you're using Candy Cane Lane by Doodlebug, use pink, white and red. 

Specialty Paper

For the windowpanes, I used plain vellum (a 10x7" piece) and pearlescent brown (7x2") for the Locomotive wheel "arms." You'll also need 20 brads total (they can all be the same, or you can use two large, one set of six and three sets of four).

Compatibility

These cutting files come in SVG file format, which is compatible with all cutting machines' software: Cricut Design Space (see our FAQs here), Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL), Canvas, Leonardo, eCAL, MTC, and more. These designs contain parts that are too large for 12x6 and 8.5 x 11 mats. Alternative “solid” score lines are included, as well as "entire" project files.
