For the topiary, I found that I used more than double the stated flowers- but it filled out really well. I curled the inside flowers inwards too.
I made heaps of these and made also made some with SVG cut 3D flowers which also looked great.
As recommended, I tried to spray paint the polystyrene balls using British Paints spray paint. It "ate" away at the balls- leaving them pitted and with an uneven cover. Maybe just me??? I resorted to painting the remaining balls with cheapo Mont Marte paint and a stiff cheapo small paint brush.....results fantastic. They take very little time to dry. Stick a toothpick in each side so that you can paint the ball in one hit and dry it easily.
